Illinois: General Assembly Adjourns from its 2016 Legislative Session, But the Fight is Not Over

Last night, the Illinois General Assembly adjourned at midnight before passing a critical piece of legislation.  Your NRA-ILA worked tirelessly through the night with pro-gun lawmakers and the American Suppressor Association to pass Senate Bill 206 which would legalize the possession and use of suppressors in Illinois.  The House passed SB 206 by a 69 to 46 vote and sent the measure to the Senate.

Unfortunately, the Senate adjourned before bringing this pro-gun measure to the Senate floor for a vote.  However, the Illinois General Assembly failed to pass a budget and will need to return for a summer session where SB 206 can be called to the floor for a vote.

It is important that you contact your state Senator, and also call Senate President John Cullerton (D-6) at (217) 782-2728, and politely urge them to call to the floor and pass SB 206 during this summer session.  You can contact your state Senator and Senate President Cullerton by clicking the above “Take Action” button.

Thank you to those NRA members and Second Amendment supporters who contacted their lawmakers in support of this important measure.  Special thanks to state Representatives Brandon Phelps (D-118) and Jerry Costello (D-116) for their hard work in passing SB 206 in the House.
