Billionaire Bloomberg Pulling Out All the Stops to Pass ANY Kind of Gun Control in New Mexico!

Over a week ago, the New Mexico House referred House Bill 50 back to the House Judiciary Committee for "more work" because it did not have the votes to pass on the House floor.  But we warned you that this legislation is NOT dead!

Now we have learned that New York City billionaire Michael Bloomberg has dipped into his deep pockets to pay for calls to be patched in to lawmakers in support of so-called "expanded background checks" -- mostly from unsuspecting members of the public who are not being told the truth about his real goal of restricting your ability to sell or transfer your privately-owned firearms.  Bloomberg and the national gun control organizations he funds, Everytown for Gun Safety & Moms Demand Action, are hoping to lay the groundwork for yet another watered-down version of HB 50 to come back before the House.  With proponents of HB 50 outnumbering opponents on the House Judiciary Committee, it can be re-written, passed out of committee again, and brought back to the House floor for consideration at any time -- on very short notice!

Urge your State Representative to oppose any and all versions of HB 50 that come before them, no matter how watered-down they might be.  Because the original version of this bill is what Bloomberg ultimately wants to pass, and we cannot afford to let him get a foothold in the Land of Enchantment.

As we enter the last three weeks of the legislative session, it will be critical that you keep an eye out for alerts on HB 50, SB 48 or any other gun control bill that Bloomberg-backed lawmakers and lobbyists try to sneak through.  He did not spend a quarter of a million dollars trying to influence New Mexico elections and the Legislature to come away empty-handed!
