Illinois: Gun and Magazine Ban Legislation to be Considered Tomorrow

The Illinois House is convening tomorrow for the 2017 Veto Session.  During this time, numerous gun control bills, including gun and magazine ban legislation, are scheduled for consideration.  Please contact your state Representative as well as sign witness slips in opposition to Senate Bill 1657, and House Bills 4107, 4112, and 4117.

Anti-gun legislators in Illinois are holding nothing back from their gun ban wish list.  Recently introduced, House Bill 4107 would ban many types of commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms and accessories and impose registration on all current owners.  This anti-gun legislation would also ban a broad range of “trigger modification devices,” and ban ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.  Possession of magazines holding more than 15 rounds would be a felony.  (Sign Witness Slip for 4107)

Unfortunately, House Bill 4112 was introduced mirroring much of HB 4107’s ban on “trigger modification devices,” but also makes possession of any affected devices a felony offense punishable by 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.  If enacted, HB 4112 would create tens of thousands of felons overnight.  (Sign Witness Slip for 4112)

Also introduced, House Bill 4117 seeks to place bans on many popular “trigger modification devices.”  (Sign Witness Slip for 4117)

Senate Bill 1657 would create onerous mandatory regulations, fees potentially in the thousands of dollars and excessive amounts of red tape that would almost assuredly force the closure of many firearm dealers, and prevent prospective owners from opening new ones.  The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) already licenses and closely monitors all federally licensed firearm dealers (FFLs) and strictly enforces any violation of federal law.

Again, please file witness slips in opposition to House Bills 4107, 4112, and 4117 by clicking the above links.  Also, contact your state Representative immediately and strongly urge them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 1657, and House Bills 4107, 4112, and 4117.
