Lt. Governor Issues Important Press Release on Upholding Second Amendment Rights
On Tuesday, the Senate Select Committee on Violence in Schools and School Security held a public hearing on the issue of potential "red flag" legislation for next session. While there was no specific proposal on dock for debate, pro-Second Amendment advocates in attendance continually hammered home the point that current statutes in the Texas Health & Safety Code and Texas Penal Code could be used to address persons who exhibit dangerous behavior that would impact themselves or others.
We thank the committee for conducting a balanced hearing and Lt. Governor Patrick for taking a bold stand against proposed legislation that would deny someone their Second Amendment rights without due process, which it was clear the gun control advocates were aiming for after an exhaustive and thorough interim hearing process.
Please see Lt. Governor Patrick's press release for more information. Also, please contact Lt. Governor Patrick and thank him for taking a stand in support of your Second Amendment rights.
