SB 489 has just reached the Governors desk! SB 489 seeks to ban the retail sale of semi-automatic pistols that do not incorporate state-mandated design features and warning language or symbols. SB 489 does not technically define these devices, and there is currently no clear understanding of exactly what will be required of firearm manufacturers. This bill will force untested technology to be adopted into the design of firearms, creating many safety concerns, and may increase the number of firearm accidents. Please contact Governor Davis and respectfully urge him to veto SB 489. You can contact the Governor at (916) 445-2841.
