On Friday, March 9, Governor Tim Kaine (D) signed House Bill 2547, sponsored by State Delegate Charles Carrico (R-5), into law. This important pro-gun measure clarifies that localities, except for the purposes of hunting, may not regulate the possession of firearms on public roadways.
Please contact Governor Kaine at (804) 786-2211 or email by visiting www.governor.virginia.gov/AboutTheGovernor/contactGovernor.cfm to thank him for signing this critical legislation, and also encourage him to sign the following pro-gun bills currently awaiting his action:
- House Bill 2653, sponsored by State Delegate Scott Lingamfelter (R-31), would prohibit gun dealer entrapment schemes, such as those orchestrated by NYC Mayor Bloomberg;
- House Bill 2308, also sponsored by Delegate Lingamfelter, provides that counties may adopt model hunting regulations as provided by the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries; and
- House Bill 2106, sponsored by Delegate Carrico, repeals the authority for localities to require fingerprints for initial concealed carry permit applicants.
