California: San Diego City Councilmember Introduces Resolution Urging Congress to Ban "Assault Weapons" and "High Capacity" Magazines

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Call AND E-Mail your City Councilmember TODAY

Councilmember David Alvarez has introduced a resolution urging Congress to support U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein's anti-gun S. 140, "Assault Weapons Ban of 2013."   Please read the San Diego Reader article entitled Assault weapons ban will be discussed at upcoming committee meeting for more information about this resolution.  This city council meeting and vote (item 8 on the agenda) will take place tomorrow at 2:00 pm in the Council Committee room on the 12th floor of the City Administration Building located at 202 C Street in San Diego.

Law-abiding gun owners cannot let this happen.  San Diego Councilmember Lorie Zapf is thinking of voting for this resolution and she needs to hear from the law-abiding gun owners in San Diego respectfully urging her to OPPOSE this anti-gun resolution.  Councilmember Zapf can be reached by phone at (619) 236-6616 and by e-mail at [email protected].

Remind Councilmember Zapf that a federal "assault weapons" ban was in effect from 1994-2004 and it had no effect on reducing violent crime rates - the Columbine tragedy took place in 1999.  Urge her to focus instead on meaningful resolutions relating to school safety, mental health issues, marketing of violence as entertainment for our children and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.

Please forward this alert to your family, friends and fellow gun owners in San Diego and urge them to do the same with their city Councilmember.  The general phone number for the San Diego City Council is (619) 236-6616 and their e-mail addresses are provided below.
