New Jersey: New Governor Wastes Little Time Attacking Gun Owners

New Jersey: New Governor Wastes Little Time Attacking Gun Owners

On Friday, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced the opening salvo in his attack on the Second Amendment.  Having been in office for only a couple of weeks, the newly-minted Governor is following through on his campaign rhetoric by going after lawful gun owners.  Murphy declared that he is rolling back the executive orders issued by previous Governor Chris Christie.

Christie sought to improve concealed carry permitting by more clearly defining the “justifiable need” standard.  Governor Murphy is changing course and shelving those reforms.

Murphy, who openly and vigorously opposes concealed carry, also said that he will make sure New Jersey resists National Reciprocity for concealed carry permits.  Given that the new Governor enjoys around-the-clock, armed security courtesy of Garden State taxpayers, it seems quite hypocritical for him to be so dismissive of a person’s right to self-defense.

This is only the opening act of what is going to be a long and challenging four years for New Jersey gun owners.  NRA members won’t be silent and now would be an appropriate time to contact the Governor’s office and respectfully let them know that you support concealed carry and do not approve of his latest attack on law-abiding New Jersey gun owners.
