NRA-PVF Endorses Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for President and Vice President

The National Rifle Association's Political Victory Fund has announced its endorsement of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for President and Vice President. NRA's Executive Vice President, Wayne LaPierre, and NRA-ILA Executive Director, Chris W. Cox, made the announcement this week in Fishersville, Virginia, during a rally with both Gov. Mitt Romney (R) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) in attendance. Also attending, and performing at the press conference, was country music superstar and NRA Life Member Trace Adkins.

"Virginia is ground zero--the front line of this election. This is where the race could be won or lost. This is where the difference can be made. This is where gun owners must make that difference." said LaPierre.

"Today, we live in an America that is getting harder to recognize every day, led by a President who mocks our values, belittles our faith, and is threatened by our freedom." said Cox. "So on behalf of the four million men and women of the National Rifle Association, representing tens of millions of NRA supporters, it is my honor to announce the NRA's endorsement of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan for President and Vice President of the United States."

"Fast and Furious" Whistleblower Calls On Fortune to Retract False Story

A key figure in the "Fast and Furious" scandal is now fighting to clear his name against a discredited media attack.

Special Agent John Dodson of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was one of the whistleblowers who came forward to tell the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee about the operation, which helped funnel thousands of guns to Mexican drug cartels. His testimony provided vital information that has helped shine a light on this scandal.

In spite of the mountain of evidence that firearms were allowed to be trafficked to criminals without any effort to track or interdict them, Fortune magazine published a story in June written by Katherine Eban that made the implausible claim that it never really happened.

NRA Researchers Respond to PolitiFact.com Bias

In 2007, with polls showing that only 22 percent of the American people trusted newspapers to tell the truth, and newspaper readership plummeting nationwide, the Tampa Bay Times doubled down on journalists' already high self-confidence by forming the PolitiFact project, which markets itself as providing the final word on truth in politics.

Except, as the other 78 percent of the American people in 2007 might have expected, that is not what PolitiFact does. Not on gun issues, at least.

PolitiFact's bias on other issues has been addressed by other groups and individuals and need not be repeated here. However, PolitiFact's bias on gun issues has been so blatant and so frequent lately that we have been compelled to respond directly.
