Gov. Bob Taft on Thursday signed legislation giving law-abiding and mentally competent Ohioans the right to carry concealed handguns, just a day after the legislature sent it to him.
The law will take effect April 9, said Orest Holubec, spokesman for Taft. Bob Beasley, spokesman for Attorney General Jim Petro, said work already has started on the application forms and other material that county sheriffs will need to process applications and issue licenses.
