Governor Blunt Signs Bill to Enforce State-Wide Right to Carry

St. Louis City and County Brought into Compliance

with Rest of State

Fairfax, VA—This afternoon, Governor Matt Blunt signed a National Rifle Association (NRA)-backed measure to correct the state’s Right-to-Carry funding process for issuing permits, removing the final barrier local municipalities used to refuse issuing permits. The state Senate supported the measure by a vote of 29-3, while the House passed the bill 142-7.

“We are pleased to see the residents of St. Louis City and County finally enjoy the same gun ownership rights afforded to the rest of the state,” said Chris W. Cox, NRA’s chief lobbyist.

HB 365, sponsored by Representative Brian Munzlinger (R-1), ensures that Missouri`s RTC permit process is administered fairly and equally throughout the Show Me State. The importance of this legislation is underscored by the bipartisan support it received in the General Assembly.

Scott Lipke (R-157), Senate Pro Tempore Michael Gibbons (R-15), Sen. Jason Crowell (R-27), and of course, Rep. Munzlinger, for their leadership on this bill.”

Prior to the bill’s passing, St. Louis City and County remained the only localities not in compliance with the Right-to-Carry law.
