Thanks to a successful grassroots campaign by NRA, the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs and other Vermont-based sportsmen's groups, important new protections have been proposed as a committee amendment to H.352. As introduced, this bill would have banned lead in ammunition and opened ammunition manufacturers, shooters, reloaders, and shooting ranges to expensive litigation.
NRA, and its state affiliate, the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs, have teamed with the National Shooting Sports Foundation to secure protections for ammunition, shooting, reloading and shooting ranges. The new language takes any consideration of lead ammunition, reloading, and shooting entirely out of the bill and clarifies the level of authority that municipalities have regarding the discharge of firearms.
The inclusion of Sections 20 and 22 have made it possible for NRA to support the passage of H.352, as amended in version 4.1 now before the House General Housing and Military affairs Committee. Members are asked to call their State Legislators at (802) 828-2228 or (800) 322-5616 and urge them to support version 4.1 of H.352.
