Pro-Gun Bills Marching Forward in South Carolina!
Friday, May 11, 2007
This legislation seeks to change the current conditional reciprocity standard for South Carolina recognizing valid RTC permits issued by other states to a straight recognition standard. Unfortunately, Senator Ralph Anderson (D-7) submitted a Minority Unfavorable Report for H. 3212, which means the legislation still faces a tough battle.
Please contact your State Senator at (803) 734-2010 and urge him or her to support H. 3212, and work to ensure its passage. You may also want to contact Senator Anderson and respectfully ask him to withdraw his Minority Report.
In addition, House Bill 3310, sponsored by State Representative Mike Pitts (R-14), was passed last week by the full Senate. This legislation, which clarifies the law regulating the carrying of a firearm in a vehicle by someone who possesses a valid Concealed Weapon Permit (CWP), is awaiting action by Governor Mark Sanford (R).
