NRA-PVF Endorses Bill Bolling for Virginia Lieutenant Governor

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund is endorsing Virginia Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling for re-election. Bill Bolling’s strong support of the Second Amendment has earned him an “A+” rating. In contrast, his opponent, Jody Wagner, failed to return the NRA candidate questionnaire which is often an indication of indifference, if not outright hostility, toward gun owners’ and sportsmen’s rights.

“As a former state senator and as Virginia’s current lieutenant governor, Bill Bolling has given 14 years of public service to defending and preserving the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Virginians,” said Chris W. Cox, NRA’s chief lobbyist and chairman of NRA-PVF.

Lieutenant Governor Bolling has consistently earned NRA-PVF’s highest legislative rating for his support of law-abiding gun owners and Virginia’s proud hunting heritage.

In the State Senate, Bolling served on the Agriculture, Conservation and National Resources Committee, a key position for Virginia sportsmen. In 2005, he voted in favor of HB 2282, creating a statewide standard for range noise management that ensures Virginia’s sportsmen have adequate venues in which to practice firearm safety and proficiency. Also that year, Bolling voted against SB 807, which would have been the first step to banning the private transfer of firearms, even between family members.

Lieutenant Governor Bolling said, "I am grateful to receive the endorsement of the National Rifle Association. I have always been, and will continue to be, a strong supporter of our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. I am pleased that the NRA is supporting my re-election campaign. This endorsement is yet another example of the strong support my campaign is receiving from all across the Commonwealth and is a testament to the common sense approach to government that I have long advocated."

“Virginia hunters, sportsmen and gun owners who value their Second Amendment rights should vote for a proven advocate of law-abiding firearm owners. On November 3rd, vote to re-elect Bill Bolling as Lieutenant Governor,” concluded Cox.
