Around 7 p.m. a masked and armed robber entered the Indian Lakes Food Mart in Virginia Beach, Va. The store clerk, a Right-to-Carry permit holder, noticed the criminal, retrieved a gun and fired, scaring off the would-be robber. Police spokesman Officer Jimmy Barnes noted that the clerk was within his rights, stating, “Clearly, if you’re under the impression you’re about to be robbed or shot or killed, you have the right to defend yourself.” This was the second robbery attempt on the store in less than a month.
