Senate Leadership Needs to Hear From You - Urge Them Not to Let This Bill Die!

Thanks to your support and contacting of your state legislators, NRA-backed House Bill 1652 passed in the Oklahoma House on Tuesday by a 75 to 5 vote. Oklahoma’s 2011 legislative session is set to end this Friday, which means only two legislative days remain to send HB 1652 to Governor Mary Fallin.

This bill was placed on the Senate calendar for Wednesday’s business, but did not get considered. The Senate must pass this bill soon – since failure to bring this bill up for a vote will effectively kill this bill and all the essential reforms it contains. HB 1652 needs your support to be brought for a final floor vote in the Senate before close of business TOMORROW, in order to be sent to the Governor this year.

HB 1652 would allow concealed carry permit holders to lock their firearms in their vehicles on technology center campuses and parking lots set aside for use by governmental entities and professional sporting events. This bill was authored by state Representative John Enns (R-41) in the state House and is sponsored by state Senators Steve Russell (R-45) and Anthony Sykes (R-24) in the state Senate.

Time is running out! This important bill must be brought up for a vote before close of business tomorrow and needs your help TODAY! Please contact Senate Leadership immediately and respectfully urge them to bring HB 1652 to the Senate floor for a vote.
