Montana: Several NRA-Supported Bills to be Heard This Week

The following pro-gun bills have passed in their legislative chamber of origin and will be heard in their respective committees this week.  Please contact these committees in support of these bills and attend their committee hearings if possible.

House Bill 27, introduced by state Representative Ted Washburn (R-69), would authorize the use of suppressors while hunting wolves after the general deer and elk season.  HB 27 will be heard by the Senate Fish and Game Committee tomorrow, March 5, at 3:00 p.m. This hearing will take place in room 422 of the state Capitol.  Please contact members of the Senate Fish and Game Committee and express your support for HB 27.  You can contact this entire committee at once, by clicking here and selecting “Senate Fish and Game” from the committee drop down list.

House Bills 205 and 302, introduced by state Representative Krayton Kerns (R-58), are scheduled to be heard by the Senate Judiciary Committee this Wednesday, March 6, at 9:00 a.m. in room 303 of the state Capitol.  Please contact this entire committee at once in support of HB 205 and HB 302, by clicking here and selecting “Senate Judiciary” from the committee drop down list.

House Bill 205 would legalize the use of suppressors for all hunting.  For more information on firearms and suppressors, click here.

House Bill 302 would prevent state enforcement of any federal ban on semi-automatic firearms and/or “large capacity” magazines.  Under this bill, no state law enforcement agent or state employee may enforce or assist in the enforcement of a federal ban on semi-automatic firearms or “large capacity” magazines.  Nor shall any state funds or resources be spent in an enforcement effort.  For more information on “assault weapons” and “large capacity” magazines, click here.

Senate Bill 145, introduced by state Senator Frederick Moore (R-20), is an important concealed weapon permit confidentiality bill.  SB 145 will be heard by the House Judiciary Committee this Thursday, March 7, at 8:00 a.m., in hearing room 137 of the state Capitol.  Please contact members of the House Judiciary  Committee and express your support for SB 145.  You can contact this entire committee at once, by clicking here and selecting “House Judiciary” from the committee drop down list.
