Idaho: Pro-Hunting Legislation Introduced in state House

Friday, January 31, 2014

Last week, state legislation that seeks to recruit and retain more hunters in the Gem State was introduced and referred to the House Committee on Resources and Conservation.  House Bill 399 aims to lower the minimum age to hunt big game from twelve years to ten years, while retaining the requirement that an individual younger than twelve must be accompanied in the field by an adult licensed to hunt in Idaho.

This pro-hunting legislation will expand hunting rights to more individuals and assist in encouraging younger generations to take up the sport.  It will also keep economic resources in the state and bring in additional revenue through increased sales of resident junior big game tags and non-resident junior mentored big game tags.

Your NRA urges you to contact your state Representative and urge him or her to support HB 399.  Their contact information can be found here.  Your NRA will continue to monitor this legislation as it moves through the Idaho Legislature.  As always, check your e-mail and the NRA-ILA website for updates.
