California: Two Pro-Gun Bills Scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, June 9

Please contact members of the Senate Committee on Public Safety and Natural Resources and Water TODAY!

On Tuesday, June 9, two pro-gun bills will be heard in their respective committees.

At 9:30 am in room 112, the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water will be hearing NRA-supported Assembly Bill 499.  AB 499 would authorize a person with a valid license to carry a firearm capable of being concealed on the person, consistent with the terms of that license, while engaged in the taking of deer with bow and arrow.   Please contact the members of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water and urge them to SUPPORT AB 499.  Contact information for the Committee can be found here.

At 9:30 am in room 3191, the Senate Committee on Public Safety will be hearing NRA-supported Assembly Bill 950.  AB 950 would allow a person who is subject to a gun violence restraining order to transfer his or her firearms to a licensed firearms dealer.  Please contact the members of the Senate Committee on Public Safety and urge them to SUPPORT AB 950.  Contact information for the Committee can be found here.

Earlier this week three anti-gun bills passed through their house of origins.  Hearing dates have not yet been set.  Continue to check www.NRAILA.org and your emails for updates on the anti-gun bills listed below.

Anti-gun Assembly Bill 96 was passed off the Assembly floor by vote of 62 to 14 and will now move to the Senate for consideration.  AB 96 would prohibit a person from purchasing, selling, offering for sale, possessing with intent to sell, or importing with intent to sell ivory or rhinoceros horn, except as specified, and would make this prohibition enforceable by the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Anti-gun Senate Bill 707 unanimously passed off the Senate floor by a vote of 23 to 12 and will now move to the Assembly for consideration.  SB 707 would prohibit CCW holders from possessing firearms on any properties that make up the grounds of a K-12 school or university, including many parking lots, common areas that may not be readily identifiable as school grounds, and student apartment buildings.

Anti-gun Senate Bill 347 passed off the Senate floor by a vote of 24 to 15 and will now move to the Assembly for consideration.  SB 347 would add to the list of misdemeanors convictions that would result in a 10-year prohibition on the possession of firearms.
