Many have questioned whether, as elected officials, it is a violation of the state Sunshine law for sheriffs to walk out of the "sunshine" into the shade of a secret vote on public policy issues that impact their constitutional duties and the rights of their constituents.
The Florida Sheriffs Association says the vote on the open-carry bill was a "blind vote" so no information is available on how each sheriff voted on this important Second Amendment issue.
Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen is to be applauded for speaking out on these issues and making his positions known. [email protected]
