California: Assembly Public Safety Committee Scheduled to Hear Several Anti-Gun Bill on Tuesday

On Tuesday, March 1, at 9:30 am, the Assembly Committee on Public Safety is scheduled to hear four anti-gun bills of serious concern to gun owners, sportsmen and Second Amendment supporters.

As previously reported, Assembly Bill 1663 and Assembly Bill 1664 are similar and would massively expand the current definition of “assault weapon” to include ALL semi-automatic centerfire rifles with a detachable magazine.

Assembly Bill 1673 would expand the definition of “firearm” to include an unfinished frame or receiver that can be “readily converted to the functional condition of a finished frame or receiver.”  These are sometimes referred to as 80% receivers.

Assembly Bill 1674 would make the 30-day handgun acquisition prohibition (often referred to as the one handgun a month law) applicable to all types of firearms and would eliminate the private party transaction exemption to the 30-day prohibition.

These egregious bills would do nothing to reduce California’s violent crime rate or stop criminals from breaking the law.

Please call AND email the state Assembly Committee on Public Safety and urge them to OPPOSE the above bills.
