Missouri: Pro-Gun Legislation to be Heard on Leap Day

On Monday, February 29, several NRA-backed bills will be heard by the Committee on Emerging Issues in House Hearing Room 5 at 4:00 p.m.  An outline of those bills to be heard is below:

House Bill 1468, sponsored by state Representative Eric Burlison (R-133), would allow all law-abiding individuals to carry a concealed firearm anywhere that isn't expressly prohibited by law.  HB 1468 would recognize your right to legally carry a concealed firearm without having to obtain a permit, allowing law-abiding gun owners the ability to better protect themselves and their loved ones.

House Bill 1764, sponsored by state Representative Robert Cornejo (R-64), would require a church or other place of worship to provide explicit notice that concealed firearms are not allowed on the property.  Under this legislation, if church leadership orders their members not to carry for self-defense, they must post such notifications for members.

House Bill 1819, sponsored by state Representative Joe Don McGaugh (R-39), would modify provisions relating to the use of force and provisions relating to firearms.  This update to Missouri’s Castle Doctrine statute would allow anyone who is lawfully inside a dwelling to use protective force to defend themselves or others.  The current Castle Doctrine does not explicitly include visitors, such as family members or other authorized persons visiting the home, under its protections.

Please contact your state Representative as well as members of the Committee on Emerging Issues, and politely ask them to support these critical pro-gun bills.  You can contact your Representative by clicking here or the above button.
