New Hampshire: Pro-Gun Bills Scheduled for Hearing Next Week

Next Monday, March 14, two pro-gun bills, House Bill 512 and House Bill 582, have been scheduled for consideration by the Senate Judiciary Committee.  Both of these bills aim to protect your fundamental right to self-defense.  Please contact the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and politely urge them to SUPPORT HB 512 and HB 582.  Please click the “Take Action” button below to contact the committee members!

HB 512, would prohibit the confiscation of firearms, ammunition, or firearms accessories during a state of emergency and provides specific penalties for law enforcement officers who violate this act.  This bill aims to prevent gun confiscation, like the actions that occurred in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and protect lawful gun ownership and our fundamental right to self-defense in such situations.

As previously reported, HB 582, NRA-endorsed permitless carry legislation, would repeal the license requirement to carry a concealed pistol or revolver, unless a person is otherwise prohibited.  For those who choose to obtain licenses, HB 582 would also increase the length of time in which a license is valid.

HB 582 would recognize a law-abiding adult’s unconditional Right to Keep and Bear Arms for self-defense in the manner he or she chooses.  Self-defense situations are difficult, if not impossible, to anticipate.  Accordingly, law-abiding gun owners should be able to protect themselves and their loved ones in the manner that best suits their needs without being subject to government-mandated time delays and taxes.

It is already lawful to open carry a firearm in the state of New Hampshire without government-mandated permitting and taxes.  Citizens of New Hampshire should not be penalized for the method they feel most comfortable defending themselves.

Once again, please click the “Take Action” button above to contact members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and politely urge them to support HB 512 and HB 582!
