North Carolina: Haywood County Proposes to Ban Open and Concealed Carry on County Property

Next Monday, March 28, at 5:30pm, the Haywood County Board of Commissioners has scheduled a Special Meeting and Public Hearing to consider an ordinance which proposes to ban all open and concealed carrying of firearms in and on any county owned or controlled property.

If you are available, please attend this meeting and show your strong opposition to this ordinance!  Also, please contact the Haywood County Board of Commissioners and urge them to OPPOSE this ordinance!

Meeting details can be found below.  Please click the “Take Action” button to contact the Haywood County Board of Commissioners!

This proposed ordinance is a direct attack on your Second Amendment rights. The County Board of Commissioners’ misguided proposal states:

“Recent changes in the law will significantly increase the number of individuals who may legally carry concealed handguns. The Board of Commissioners is concerned about the increased presence of concealed handguns on County property and about the threat that such increased presence will pose to the health, safety, and general welfare of the community.”

This statement proves that the county is directly attacking those who are LEGALLY carrying a concealed handgun.  The Commissioners’ proposal is not only an attack on your Second Amendment rights, but also on your fundamental right to self-defense.  If an individual can lawfully own, possess and carry a firearm, they should not have restrictions placed on their ability to exercise their fundamental right to self-defense outside of their home.

Once again, please consider attending the meeting and OPPOSING this egregious ordinance.
