Louisiana: House and Senate Take Action on NRA-Backed Bills

This week, the Louisiana House unanimously passed NRA-backed House Bill 1155, sponsored by state Representative Valarie Hodges (R-Denham Springs).  HB 1155, which is the substitute bill for House Bill 176, establishes an expedited process for victims of domestic violence to obtain temporary concealed carry permits if they have obtained permanent protective orders against their abusers.  HB 1155 now moves to the Senate for consideration.  Your NRA-ILA will notify you as to which Senate committee this important measure is referred.  Please contact your state Senator and urge them to support House Bill 1155!

Also this week, the Louisiana Senate approved NRA-supported House Bill 142, sponsored by state Representative Blake Miguez (R-New Iberia), on a 30-4 vote.  HB 142, a key restoration of Second Amendment rights measure, will now be sent back to the House for expected concurrence with Senate amendments.  Please thank your state Senator who voted for House Bill 142!
