On Monday, March 20, the Ventura City Council voted 6-1 to pass a local gun control ordinance that will increase storage and security mandates on firearm and ammunition dealers. This proposal is similar to SB 464, which also passed the Senate Public Safety committee on Tuesday, March 21.
California already has some of the strictest laws in the country regarding how dealers must store and secure firearms. This anti-self-defense ordinance will only place more costs and mandates on law-abiding business owners. The NRA will be working to repeal this ordinance.
We will continue watch the Ventura City Council as they have expressed interest in passing further firearm-related restrictions. Make sure you check your email or www.NRAILA.org for updates on this issue and other firearm-related issues going on in Sacramento and throughout California.
