Yesterday, the Legislative Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife voted “ought not to pass” on all of the bills that would have created Sunday hunting opportunities for Maine sportsmen. An extra day in the field, especially on the weekend, would increase opportunities for individuals to experience hunting and would have undoubtedly invigorated essential hunter recruitment and retention efforts -- key factors in preserving Maine’s hunting heritage for future generations to come. This work session was a good opportunity to get the conversation moving on this issue and rest assured, your NRA-ILA will continue to lead the fight for the passage of Sunday hunting opportunities for Maine sportsmen.
