NRA-ILA Grassroots on the Ground in Atlanta

NRA-ILA Grassroots on the Ground in Atlanta

In conjunction with NRA’s Annual Meetings in Atlanta, the NRA-ILA Grassroots Division once again had a busy schedule of events.

On Thursday evening, our FrontLines Activist Leaders (FALs) who were in town to celebrate NRA’s Annual Meetings gathered for a social event where FALs and NRA staff got to meet and exchange ideas and updates on our mutual grassroots activities.  (To contact your local FrontLines Activist Leader or to find out more about the program and possibly serving as an FAL, click here.)

Friday morning, dozens of NRA-ILA’s “grasstops” leaders attended the first ever “Grassroots State of the Union.”  This intimate gathering featured NRA-ILA Grassroots Director Glen Caroline delivering substantive updates on ILA’s Grassroots programs, their impacts on the 2016 elections, as well as a discussion on what activists must be doing to promote and protect our Second Amendment rights this year and in preparation for the all-important 2018 elections.  (For those who couldn’t attend in person, you can watch the 2017 Grassroots State of the Union at the 146th NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits in Atlanta here)

On Saturday, the Grassroots Division will host its Third Annual Collegiate Leadership Conference.  This special event is targeted specifically toward current college students and recent graduates and discusses how tomorrow’s Second Amendment leaders can become more effective advocates for NRA and their gun rights on their campuses.  The conference will feature several guest speakers, including Gov. Phil Bryant of Mississippi, and a roundtable panel discussion where attendees will hear firsthand from their peers on the challenges and opportunities they have faced in mobilizing pro-Second Amendment students on campus.  (More coverage on the Collegiate Leadership Conference will appear in next week’s Alert.)
