This week, both House Bill 414 and Senate Bill 24, the constitutional/permitless carry bills, could be considered for a committee vote on Wednesday, May 3. However, Chairman Treadaway has commented that he intends to send the bills to a subcommittee, essentially killing them for the rest of session. It is imperative that you contact Chairman Treadaway and let him know that these bills are a priority for law-abiding gun owners across Alabama, and that he needs to bring them up for a committee vote this Wednesday!
Also, contact the members of the House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee and urge them to support both SB 24 and HB 414! Click the “Take Action” button below to contact both Chairman Treadaway and the House committee members.
Both SB 24 and HB 414 would eliminate the requirement to obtain a permit in order to lawfully carry. These bills recognize a law-abiding adult’s unconditional Right to Keep and Bear Arms for self-defense in the manner he or she chooses. Self-defense situations are difficult, if not impossible, to anticipate. Accordingly, a law-abiding adult’s right to defend himself or herself in such situations should not be conditioned by government-mandated time delays and taxes.
