A man shot an intruder who tried breaking into his Far East Dallas apartment early Monday, police say. The resident was watching TV in his room about 1:45 a.m., when he heard someone banging on the apartment door, police said. The front door slammed and the man noticed someone walk inside. The resident shot at the 35-year-old suspect, who ran away. Officers sent to the Primrose Park Villas on 2519 John West Road found the suspect lying in the doorway of another apartment. He was taken to Baylor University Medical Center with gunshot wounds in the chest and in the thigh. He is expected to survive.
The suspect's name has not been released.
