California: NRA and CRPA to Host Webinar on Approved “Assault Weapon” Regulations

The Office of Administrative Law ("OAL") officially approved DOJ’s proposed “bullet-button assault weapon" regulations on July 31, 2017.  These regulations are now law, and they (among other things) govern how owners of certain “bullet-button assault weapons” are to register their firearms with DOJ by July 1, 2018.

If you want more information about these new regulations, sign up for the free live webinar that we are hosting on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at 12:00 pm.  Click here to register.

The upcoming webinar will cover similar material to the May webinar, as there are no substantive changes between the previously rejected regulations and those that were approved.

This webinar will cover:

  • A detailed explanation of how to register your firearm(s);
  • How to determine whether your firearm(s) ought to be registered;
  • Personal information required for registration;
  • Requirements on providing information on where and how the firearm was acquired;
  • Requirements that individuals provide DOJ with photos of their firearms,
  • Requirements for serializing home-built firearms,
  • Expansion of the “assault weapon” definition to “bullet-button” equipped shotguns; and
  • Restrictions on removing the “bullet-button” once the firearm is registered as an “assault weapon.”

NRA and CRPA attorneys are finalizing a lawsuit which will challenge these regulations as a violation of California’s Administrative Procedures Act. This lawsuit challenging the regulatory aspect of the “assault weapons” ban will compliment that currently pending Rupp v. Becerra, challenging California’s “Assault Weapon Control Act”.

Don’t forget to forward this alert to your family, friends, and fellow gun owners and sportsmen, so they can also register for this important webinar.
