Vermont: Gov. Scott Vetoes Anti-Gun Bill

Vermont: Gov. Scott Vetoes Anti-Gun Bill

On Tuesday, the Legislature’s signature attack on gun owners met its demise on the Governor’s desk.   Gov. Phil Scott vetoed S.30, legislation which started out as a “location restriction” for hospitals but evolved into an omnibus gun control bill, including everything from “red flag” expansion to indefinitely blocking delayed NICS checks.

Thank you to NRA members and Second Amendment supporters who continued to contact their legislators and the Governor.  However, please keep in mind that the session has not even reached the midway point, and these issues can all be resurrected.  Anti-gun politicians in Montpelier may even attempt to override the veto.

While today’s action is certainly good news, and we remain cautiously optimistic, anti-gun lawmakers will not go away empty-handed.  In addition, the Governor indicated there are issues that he may yet be open to addressing.  The session is far from over.  We will continue to be vigilant and fight any and all infringements on the Second Amendment.

Please continue to follow NRA-ILA Alerts for the latest developments in the Green Mountain State.
