Today, the California Legislature returned for the 2023 session after briefly meeting in December. Gun control bills have already been introduced and will continue to be introduced until the bill filing deadline on February 17. At this time, most bills express the intent of the legislature to act on a certain subject matter and will be amended as we approach policy committee hearings, which have yet to be scheduled. Below are a few lowlights of currently introduced bills:
- Assembly Bill 27: Firearm and Ammunition Tax
- Senate Bill 2: Concealed Carry reforms in response to the Bruen decision. It is anticipated this bill will looked similar to the SB 918 which failed in the 2022 session.
