Tomorrow morning, February 9, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. the Judiciary Finance and Civil Law committee will meet in Capitol Room 120 to vote on HF 14, a universal background check scheme bill, and HF 15 a “red flag” bill. The so-called “Red Flag” orders, or Emergency Risk Protection Orders, are designed to empower the government to confiscate Americans’ firearms without due process of law. Please contact the committee members today asking them to oppose universal background checks and the "red flag" proposal.
HF 14 imposes unreasonable restrictions on transferring firearms and seeks to implement universal background checks in addition to implementing new ways for the government to deny firearm ownership and possession.
HF 15 seeks to implement "red flag" laws allowing gun confiscation of law-abiding gun owners based on mere speculation and hearsay evidence. While “red flag” extreme risk protection orders may seem like a good idea on paper, they have been proven to be ineffective and unconstitutional. They can lead to the violation of citizens' rights.
Provided the hostile intentions of those pushing universal background checks and “red flag” laws, these measures pose a mortal danger to the right to free speech, the right to keep and bear arms, and the right to due process under the law. Please forward this to your family and friends encouraging them to contact their lawmakers to oppose HF 14 and HF 15.
