North Dakota Legislature Adjourned Sine Die From the 2023 Session

The North Dakota legislature adjourned sine die on April 30, 2023. NRA thanks Rep. Ben Koppelman for introducing pro-2A legislation HB 1339 and HB 1340, both of which were signed into law. These bills respectively remove the requirement for a North Dakota driver's license to exercise their Second Amendment rights and enhance the State’s firearm preemption law.

The NRA would like to extend their gratitude to the legislators who stood up to defend the Second Amendment rights of North Dakotans, as well as all NRA members and second amendment supporters. Additionally, a special thanks to Governor Doug Burgum for his unwavering support of the Second Amendment.

Also, Rep. Koppelman introduced HB 1487, which prohibits credit card issuers from surveilling gun owners, and has been sent to the governor's desk for his signature. HB 1487 was in response to the MCC rule. Since the federal government is prohibited by law from creating and maintaining a registry of gun owners, anti-gun radicals are attempting to outsource this effort to the private financial sector.

NRA will be back in Bismarck for the 2025 session. Meanwhile, please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates on issues affecting our Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage in North Dakota.
