Interim Legislative Committee to Meet Tuesday to Discuss Gun Control Proposals for 2024 Session!

Dear New Mexico NRA Member:

This Tuesday, July 18, the New Mexico Interim Joint Courts, Corrections & Justice Committee will meet in Ruidoso to discuss the landscape of firearms litigation in the post-Bruen era and gun control proposals for the 30-day session in 2024, including: semi-automatic firearm bans and magazine limits, age restrictions on firearm purchases, waiting periods, and legislation paving the way for lawsuits to bankrupt the firearms industry. The committee will hear from invited presenters only and no public testimony will be taken. You can watch the proceedings online, as they will be live-streamed via the New Mexico legislative website (go to www.nmlegis.gov and click on Main Menu then Webcast.)

The meeting will begin at 8:30am and is expected to run until about 3:30pm; you can find a copy of the agenda here. Tune in to get a preview of how the New Mexico Legislature plans to attack your Second Amendment rights next session. NRA-ILA will be present to monitor the discussion and report to you on what takes place.

Also, contact your State Senators and State Representatives and urge them to OPPOSE any gun control legislation next session!
