Colorado: Mandatory Storage Bill Passes General Assembly and Semi-Auto Ban Temporarily Removed from Calendar

In a temporary reprieve for Colorado gun owners, the semi-auto ban HB24-1292 has been removed from the calendar. But we cannot let our guard down as gun control advocates can bring it up for a vote at any time!

Yesterday, the General Assembly passed HB24-1348, which mandates that firearms stored in unattended vehicles must be kept in a locked hard-sided container that is kept out of view or within the locked trunk of the vehicle and creates civil penalties for infractions.

Upcoming Committee Hearings

House Business Affairs & Labor Committee on Wednesday, March 27th

Consumer Credit Card Information Bill

SB24-066 requires the use of merchant category codes by payment processors to identify firearm, firearm accessories, and ammunition purchases. SB24-066 is set to be heard in the House Business Affairs & Labor Committee on Wednesday, March 27th, at 1:30 pm.

State Permitting System for FFL's

HB24-1353 creates a state permitting system for federally regulated firearm license holders. The new permit adds one more layer of scrutiny and potentially state sanctioned harassment of these already highly regulated businesses. HB24-1353 adds additional conditions and requirements on the dealers, along with random inspections and severe penalties for violations. HB24-1353 is set to be heard in the House Business Affairs & Labor Committee on Wednesday, March 27th, at 1:30 pm.

Please use the button below to contact committee members and urge them to OPPOSE SB24-066 and HB24-1353!
