More than a year after issuing an "emergency" executive order banning the carrying of firearms on state property and public places in Bernalillo County, anti-gun Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has allowed the order to expire. Apparently, time has run out on her unconstitutional attempts to distract the media and the public from the fact that neither she nor her political acolytes in Albuquerque have any meaningful solutions to the crime crisis in the state's largest city.
A wave of lawsuits challenging the governor’s actions coincided with many state and local officials, including members of her own political party, voicing their opposition to her order. NRA, along with Republican state lawmakers and concerned citizens, filed a legal challenge against her unlawful and unconstitutional ban with the New Mexico Supreme Court.
With the 2025 session of the New Mexico Legislature set to begin in January, your Second Amendment rights will remain at risk. Governor Lujan Grisham will no doubt continue to push her radical gun control agenda that includes gun bans, magazine limits, restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms by law-abiding young adults, and reckless lawsuits against the firearms industry. NRA-ILA will report on these measures as more information becomes available closer to session.
