Senate Bill 308, as introduced, would have expanded the existing ban on standard capacity magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds to apply to all firearms, not just pistols. This bill was amended in the Senate Judiciary Committee and will now impose a ban on magazines capable of holding more than 30 rounds for rifles and shotguns.
Senate Bill 401 would prohibit the possession of any firearm capable of firing ammunition of 50 caliber or higher. SB401 was amended in the Senate Judiciary Committee to exclude shotguns from the proposed ban and would now also provide an exception for firearms covered by the ban that are legally registered as of the effective date of the bill.
