Oklahoma: Pro-Gun Bills Progress in the Legislature

As we near the midpoint of the 2025 legislative session, numerous pro-gun bills are advancing in the legislature. Thank you to NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters for electing pro-gun lawmakers to protect the freedoms of all law-abiding citizens throughout Oklahoma.

Please see below for a quick update on a few of the important pro-gun bills moving this session and contact your legislators by using the TAKE ACTION buttons below to encourage them to SUPPORT these bills!

Pending in the House:

HB1095 allows municipal employees to carry concealed firearms and eliminates certain gun-free zones. HB1095 was amended and received a "Do Pass" vote in the House Judiciary & Public Safety Oversight Committee.

HB1139 allows for firearms to be stored and carried in vehicles on school grounds. HB1139 received a "Do Pass" vote in the House Judiciary & Public Safety Oversight Committee and awaits a floor vote.

HB2818, the Private Property Protection Act, allows for the defensive display of a firearm when presented with an active threat. HB2818 received a "Do Pass" vote in the House Judiciary & Public Safety Oversight Committee and awaits a floor vote.

Pending in the Senate:

SB16 prohibits the use of firearm and ammunition specific Merchant Category Codes, which could be used to track firearm and ammunition purchases and create a registry of lawful gun and ammunition buyers. This is an important protection for gun owners, protecting private purchasing data from abuse by third parties. Nineteen states have adopted similar legislation. For more information, click here. SB16 received a "Do Pass" vote in the Senate Business and Insurance committee and awaits a floor vote.

SB500 prohibits public entities from entering into contracts with businesses unless they certify that they do not discriminate against firearm businesses. Anti-gun corporations, banks, and their executives have expressed interest in denying services to the firearm industry as a way to further their political agenda and impose gun control by making such business impossible when legislatures won’t bend to their will. SB500 received a "Do Pass" vote in the Senate Public Safety committee and awaits a floor vote.

SB636 prohibits state and local entities from using state funding for anti-Second Amendment publications, including digital and print mediums. SB636 received a "Do Pass" vote in the Senate Public Safety committee and awaits a floor vote.
