Yesterday, House Bill 3930 (H.3930), the Second Amendment Financial Privacy bill, passed favorably out of a House Judiciary subcommittee.
H.3930 would prohibit the use of firearm and ammunition-specific Merchant Category Codes, which could be used to track firearm and ammunition purchases and create a registry of lawful gun and ammunition buyers. Further, it includes an enforcement mechanism that allows the South Carolina Attorney General to pursue legal remedies against entities that violate these provisions.
