Nevada: More Gun Control Bills Scheduled for Hearings

After a six-hour gun control hearing last Thursday, anti-gun legislators in Carson City have wasted no time in scheduling more egregious bills for hearings. Please use BOTH Take Action buttons below to contact committee members and urge their opposition!

On Wednesday, April 2nd, at 1:00pm, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hear Senate Bill 347. SB 347 would authorize a law enforcement officer who places an individual in a mental health hold to immediately confiscate a firearm owned or possessed by the individual. Following the release of the individual, they would then be required to request a hearing with the district court to have their firearm returned. This is a clear violation of due process as an individual should not have their firearms seized without a criminal conviction or civil proceeding.

On Friday, April 4th at the Call of the Chair, the Senate Committee on Government Affairs will hear Senate Bill 156 that would establish an Office of Gun Violence Prevention within the Office of the Attorney General. While proponents claim the purpose is to conduct “research”, the Office of Gun Violence Prevention will only serve to advocate for gun control policies using tax-payer dollars.

Please stay tuned to the NRA-ILA website and your inbox for update as this critical legislation progresses.
