Continuing the trend of this legislative session, Governor Jared Polis has signed two more gun control bills into law: House Bill 25-1238 and House Bill 25-1133.
House Bill 25-1238 places additional regulatory burdens on gun show vendors and organizers. The bill introduces new requirements that may deter lawful vendors from participating and make it more difficult for organizers to host these events, which have long served as an accessible, regulated avenue for legal firearm transactions.
House Bill 25-1133 restricts the purchase of ammunition based on age, prohibiting anyone under 21 from purchasing ammunition of any kind. This sweeping restriction affects young adults who are legally permitted to possess and use firearms, including those who do so for hunting, sport shooting, and personal protection.
Governor Polis’s decision to sign these measures into law underscores his continued support for increased firearms regulation. The General Assembly has shown no signs of slowing down. With time left in the legislative session, we expect more anti-gun proposals to surface as emboldened lawmakers push further toward their agenda of disarmament and government overreach.
