This Thursday, the Michigan Senate Judiciary Committee is set to hear a dangerous package of bills that would further erode the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Michiganders. Please use the Take Action button below to contact committee members and urge them to OPPOSE SB 224, SB 225, SB 226, SB 331, and SB 332.
Senate Bill 331 and Senate Bill 332 would severely restrict the ability of gun owners to build firearms for personal use by regulating so-called "ghost guns" and imposing harsh restrictions on the raw materials used to make them.
Senate Bill 224 bans the possession, sale, or transfer of bump stocks and similar devices, imposing stricter regulations than those applied to fully automatic firearms. This comes despite the U.S. Supreme Court striking down the federal bump stock ban, making it clear that such policies violate federal law and due process.
Senate Bill 225 and Senate Bill 226 expand “gun-free zones” by prohibiting firearm carry in the Michigan State Capitol Building, the Binsfeld Senate Office Building, and the Anderson House Office Building—except for legislators. In recent years, rule changes have already restricted carry in these locations. These bills would lock those restrictions into state law and prevent future efforts to restore carry rights in these buildings.
