On Friday, May 30th, the Oklahoma legislature adjourned sine die from the 2025 legislative session. This year was extremely productive for the advancement of Second Amendment protections, with three critical bills receiving Governor Kevin Stitt's signature. NRA thanks Governor Stitt, all legislators who advanced this critical legislation, and all NRA members and fellow Second Amendment advocates who engaged their legislators this session.
SB500, introduced by Senator Casey Murdock and Representative Kevin West, prohibits public entities from entering into contracts with businesses unless they certify that they do not discriminate against firearm businesses. Anti-gun corporations, banks, and their executives have expressed interest in denying services to the firearm industry as a way to further their political agenda and impose gun control by making such business impossible when legislatures won’t bend to their will.
HB1095 allows municipal employees to carry concealed firearms and eliminates certain gun-free zones.
HB2818, the Private Property Protection Act, allows for the defensive display of a firearm when presented with an active threat.
Additionally, SB 50, which provides a tax exemption for gun safe and firearm locks, has also been signed by the Governor.
NRA will be back in Oklahoma City in 2026 to keep fighting for the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates.
