Yesterday, June 16, the Florida State Legislature adjourned sine die from its 2025 legislative session.
This session, all anti-gun bills were defeated and the legislature passed House Bill 6025, protecting our Second Amendment Rights during a state of emergency. In addition, Senate Bill 700 passed, including pro-gun language that accelerates the timeline for returning a suspended Concealed Weapon or Firearm License and expands safeguards to protect sport shooting ranges and state wildlife management lands. Both bills were signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis.
NRA’s priority legislation, HB 759/SB 920, to restore the ability for young adults to lawfully purchase firearms, failed this year. The House passed HB 759, however the Senate failed to act on either bill. The NRA remains committed to removing barriers that prevent young adults from exercising their Second Amendment rights and will continue efforts in both the legislature and the courthouse. On May 16, the NRA filed a petition for a writ of certiorari in NRA v. Glass, requesting the U.S. Supreme Court hear its challenge to Florida’s law prohibiting adults under 21 from purchasing firearms.
NRA will be back in Tallahassee for the 2026 session. Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates.
