Virginia: Fairfax City Council Considering Expanding Gun Control Ordinance

Tomorrow, June 24, the Fairfax City Council will be discussing expanding the current gun control ordinance by increasing gun free zones and penalties for violations.

Please click the “Take Action” button below to contact the Mayor and City Council to urge them to OPPOSE amendments to expand the current gun control ordinance!

The City council is specifically considering amendments that would prohibit firearms at the following places: (1) city permitted events, as well as those events that would otherwise require a city permit (which includes events permitted by an authority or local government entity created or controlled by the city in whole or in part); and (2) parks controlled by a park authority that was created or controlled by the City in conjunction with one or more other localities.

City Council is considering increasing the penalty for violations of the ordinance from a Class 4 misdemeanor to a Class 1 misdemeanor.

Stay tuned to the NRA-ILA website and your inbox for further updates on these proposed amendments.
