Governor Jeff Landry recently signed three pro-gun bills into law, continuing to show his commitment to the Second Amendment. The bills will take effect on August 1st, 2025. The NRA is thankful for Governor Landry's strong support, along with Senate President Cameron Henry, House Speaker Phillip DeVillier, and legislative leaders who continue to prioritize these critical protections. Below find a brief description of the recently signed bills:
SB 101, authored by Sen. Blake Miguez, ensures constitutional carriers and out-of-state concealed carry permit holders who have reciprocity with Louisiana can carry firearms in more areas across the state by eliminating some gun-free zones.
HB 393, authored by Rep. Dennis Bamburg, clarifies the present law recognizing the rights of a bystander or spectator to carry a concealed handgun at a parade or demonstration.
HB 407, authored by Rep. Lauren Ventrella, allows non-residents to apply for and obtain a Louisiana Concealed Handgun Permit.
