On Monday, October 27, the Wytheville Town Council is scheduled to vote on a gun control ordinance that would expand “gun-free zones” by prohibiting firearms in Wytheville government buildings, public parks, and community and recreation centers, without an exception for Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) holders.
Please click the “Take Action” button below to contact Wytheville Town Council and urge them to OPPOSE this ordinance!
Gun-free zones create arbitrary boundaries where law-abiding citizens are disarmed, while zero measures are taken to prevent criminals from entering. Additionally, recent data shows that over 95% of mass casualty events occur in gun-free zones, highlighting the fact that such zones empower criminals to target "soft targets" where law-abiding citizens are disarmed. This ordinance would only decrease public safety and endanger individuals living in or visiting Wytheville.
