On Tuesday, March 10th, the Senate Federal and State Affairs Committee amended House Bill 2501, by substituting language to include the provisions of Senate Bill 503, removing suppressors and short barreled rifles from the controlled weapons list at the state level, and retaining the dealer liability protections originally contained in HB 2501.

House Bill 2501 removes suppressors and short-barreled firearms from the controlled weapons list at the state level. This legislation is critical to ensuring that future changes in Federal law do not prevent law-abiding Kansans from possessing and utilizing suppressors to protect their hearing while hunting or exercising their Second Amendment rights. It also states that Kansas-based FFLs are immune from civil liability when returning firearms to their owners after a firearm hold agreement.
